True Myrtle is a popular evergreen Mediterranean shrub with aromatic leaves. It is a part of the Mediterranean forests (Maquis). For successful overwintering it needs some protection also in south Bulgaria.
The Tarentum myrtle has smaller leaves and more compact growth.
Synonyms: Myrtus communis 'Jenny Reitenbach', Myrtus communis 'Microphylla'
