This type of palm is a relative of coconut palms, but is also among the most cold-resistant palm species in the world. The fruits are actually miniature copies of coconuts. These fruits are from a palm tree that grows outdoors and without protection in Asenovgrad, Bulgaria (USDA zone 8b). They are only available for a short time while ripening.
