Magnolia kobus

Magnolias from seed bloom after many years. Our Magnolias are ennobled and bloom immediately or next summer. Magnolia Kobus is a deciduous species with rounded, large and green leaves with yellow autumn color. It blooms before leafing with white flowers that are about 10 cm in diameter. Flowering is very abundant in April-May. It reaches up to 10 m in height and 4-8 m in width.

Quercus ilex, Holm oak

Holm oak is extremely widespread in the Mediterranean. It will safely tolerate temperatures down to at least -25 degrees. At such temperatures damage of the leaves will begin. This lovely evergreen tree is suitable for park and street landscaping in most of Bulgaria.

We have old trees here and there around the country, planted during the socialism, mainly in various experimental stations, botanical gardens or parks. Although these trees grow beautifully in our climate and bear fruits, any serious efforts to promote them were never taken.
In our nursery, located on the open field between Plovdiv and Asenovgrad, where minimum temperatures often compete with those in the coldest places in Bulgaria, the Holm oak thrives and grows quite fast. The small plants that we planted a few years ago in our botanical garden, are already a trees, quite reminiscent of olives.

The name of the holm oak comes from his extremely hard wood (here's another reason to grow it - because of the widespread use of wood). Needless to say, how valuable is such hardwood. The Holm oak is completely drought resistant and can safely be planted for reforestation of dry slopes and hills.

The compact Daphne odora Aureomarginata would take you at first sight!

It's not only attractive with its colorful evergreen variegated decoration, but also with its intoxicating sweet scent of perfume. Blooms from January to late March with soft, solid colors ranging from faint pink to purplish tinge.Before it opens its flower buds, the color is dark pink. Winter Daphne prefers places with partial overshadowing and well-drained soil. It reaches a height of up to 120 centimeters(3-4 feet).

This majestic plant manages to grow wonderfully everywhere. It reaches a height of only 1.70 m, which makes it a suitable decoration. Please pay attention to the heights in the photos. The difference of the plants is due to the place where the graft was made.

Special blend, prevents the appearance of yellow new leaves, treats  long-lasting chlorosis, supports quality growth

Ingredients: Iron salts, magnesium salts, acidifying ions, additional minerals.

Application: Dissolve 1 tablespoon in 1 gallon of tap water and water the plants abundantly every 2  to 4 weeks. In case of severely damaged plants, apply the fertilizer every 2 weeks until green and  quality new growth is developped! Could be applied all year round to potted plants. Use with caution to avoid rust spots on any surrounding surfaces! Please note, that this fertilizer will affect mostly the new growth, not the old leaves that are already damaged. Do not overdose!

Storage: In a tightly closed package, in a dry and dark place. Durability: 2 years.

This interesting exotic tree from Brazil and Uruguay has exceptionally beautiful and bright red flowers. It can grow in the Mediterranean and in the warmer regions of the British Isles, where it grows as a deciduous tree. In Bulgaria it can not grow outdoors without protection.

Eucalyptus gunnii, Cider Gum

This Eucalyptus species has a reputation of cold hardy -15 degrees at least, but in Bulgaria it shows surprising results. In some places, it grows without damage and becomes a big tree, and others - freezes down to the ground at -5 degrees. There is definitely a potential in this species, but more experiments are needed here.

If you have traveled around the Mediterranean in March, you've probably noticed the beautiful small trees laden in yellow. These Acacia trees can not be confused with any other tree. Its deep yellow color it easily recognizable from a distance, and is eye-catching.

Small trees will bloom without problems also in a pot.

Jacaranda mimosifolia, Blue Jacaranda

This is a beautiful subtropical tree of South American origin. It is widely planted in the frost free areas with mild winters, where it blooms profusely and the trees are covered by the blue flowers.

When grown in pot, Jacaranda needs less water during the winter and needs to stay frost free. The leaves most often will fall off, but the new growth will start as soon as the spring warmth approaches.

The Camphop tree grows in south Bulgaria and along the Black Sea coast. In very cold winters it may freeze to the ground, but will grow again in spring and may reach 1,5 - 2 meters height in just a few months.
